the creative journey of
Fredi Gertsch
For over 15 years, Fredi Gertsch has dedicated himself to painting with passion and dedication. Daily, he takes up his brush to create colorful, symbolic works that transcend mere visual pleasure. His art aims to touch, inspire, and encourage—it celebrates life and invites us to embrace new perspectives.
Fredi Gertsch's "cool pictures" have already traveled far and wide—from Zurich to Singapore, New York, Munich, Sydney, Helsinki, and Zhu Hai. This international response confirms that his art speaks a universal language: that of joy, love, courage, and strength.
Two sources shape his works:
- Many images are created 100% from his imagination, without any templates – pure imagination that results in poetic landscapes, urban scenes, playful still lifes and characterful animal pictures.
- Other works begin with a digital sketch (Procreate, Midjourney), which serves as a visual notebook. However, in the painting process, he freely transforms the original—changing colors, adding symbols, and abstracting. This creates independent, distinctive paintings that clearly bear his signature.
He finds inspiration in songs, films, legends, social issues, and the colorful chaos of everyday life. Cows, sheep, flowers, and other animals repeatedly appear as protagonists in his imagery—sometimes humorous, sometimes poetic, sometimes critical.
Every canvas is a new adventure, where impressions and thoughts merge into stories that convey lightness and confidence. His works are far more than decorative elements – they aim to move, inspire reflection, and leave a lasting impression. Those who engage with them will discover a world full of color, imagination, and joie de vivre – and an unmistakable signature that combines authenticity with contemporary visual language.

Large format, large collaboration
6.5 x 2 meters – my largest canvas so far
Together with the experienced canvas builder Ueli Langenegger, I constructed my largest canvas to date, measuring an impressive 6.5 x 2 meters – a commissioned work that also presented a special technical challenge. Ueli Langenegger, known for creating monumental canvases for the world-renowned artist Franz Gertsch, brings decades of expertise in large-format production to the table. This collaboration was an inspiring moment for me and an important milestone on my artistic path.
